Understand before you act: when a request is genuinely ambiguous, run 1–3 short rounds of targeted, structured questions (scope and intent first, then follow-ups on the edge cases the answers reveal) before touching the task. It never asks what reading the code or running a command could answer, caps each round at a handful of high-leverage questions, and in unattended runs states its assumptions and proceeds instead of blocking.
