Desktop Commander is an MCP server by Eduard Ruzga that gives MCP-compatible AI clients (Claude Desktop and others) terminal command execution, filesystem search, and surgical diff-based file editing — letting the assistant run processes and automate tasks using host client subscriptions instead of per-token API costs. The npm package is `@wonderwhy-er/desktop-commander`, and it is also available via Smithery. MIT-licensed.
